LPGA pro makes hole-in-one, wins Porsche despite rough opening round at the Evian Championship

    July 11, 2024

Golf is an emotional rollercoaster. One second your hanging upside down thinking you’re going to puke, the next your grinning ear-to-ear with your photo on a commemorative coffee mug.

Just ask LPGA Tour pro Jodi Ewart Shadoff. She was seven-over during her first round at the Amundi Evian Championship on Thursday when she arrived at the 16th tee. With a shiny new Porsche beckoning behind her, Shadoff watched as her ball took one almighty kick off the right fringe and made a bee line for the bottom of the cup.

That's one hell of a pick-me-up. Shadoff still fired a four-over 75, putting her in a tie for 119th. She’ll need minor miracle to the make the cut (top 70 and ties) at the penultimate women's major of the year, but there is one massive to silver lining to all this:

That means she'll have the weekend to enjoy the French countryside from the comfort of her new whip. Sounds like a pretty nice consolation prize to us.
