The advent of LIV Golf has caused plenty of disruption in pro golf. It also ended one of the game's budding bromances.

Prior to LIV, Tiger Woods and Bryson DeChambeau were boys. They played practice rounds together. They played in the Ryder Cup together. They probably played video games together.

Clearly, Woods liked DeChambeau for his work ethic, both on the course and in the weight room. An amateur physics buff himself, Tiger thought it was cool that Bryson majored in the subject in college. And, we're guessing he just loved that he found a fellow golf nerd.

But all of those good vibes ended when DeChambeau signed with LIV in June of 2022. The following March, Bryson revealed the 15-time major champ had cut off all communication with him. And that Tiger hadn't even texted him back when he wished him a happy birthday. Rough.

But Tiger broke that two-year silent treatment at this week's British Open when he approached Bryson on the Royal Troon range to congratulate him on winning last month's U.S. Open. And on Thursday—even after a rough first-round 76—DeChambeau talked about how much it meant to hear from his old friend and idol.

"It is the first communication, but I'll say he's competitor and I have a lot of respect for him," DeChambeau said when asked if it's the first time they've talked since he defected to LIV. "I'm sure that winning two U.S. Opens definitely helped, I guess, for him coming up and saying congrats. I don't know what his position is, but it was very thoughtful, and I was appreciative of it."

Aww. You love to see hear it. In other words, game respects game.
