The golf world has gotten a major introduction to Daniel Brown through two days at Royal Troon, where he sits just two shots off Shane Lowry's lead. And as anyone who gets thrust into sudden fame, the 29-year-old Englishman started to have his past, including his old tweets, examined. But don't worry, the one that's going around Golf Twitter will only make you like him more.

That's because it comes from 12 years ago. And it shows just how excited the then teen was to attend the Open Championship.

Hysterical hashtag there from the young man. But you get the point, this guy has always loved the Open. And not only is he back at the tournament this week, but he's one of the main characters. Who knows, he could be weeing for different reasons tonight going into a final-group pairing!

Anyway, after Friday's second round, Brown was asked by Golf Channel's Cara Banks about the old tweet.

"I’m not sure about the hashtag weeing," Brown responded a bit sheepishly. "But yeah, that would probably be I went to Royal Lytham and Muirfield back-to-back years as a kid. So yes, it’s great to be here, and I could never have imagined it really. It’s exceeded expectations as well."

For those watching—and gambling—the 272nd-ranked player in the world making his major championship debut has certainly exceeded expections also. But anything seems possible in this tournament.

In 2003, Ben Curtis, also making his major championship debut, hoisted the claret jug at Royal St. George's. And the following year at Royal Troon, Todd Hamilton pulled arguably an even bigger upset when he beat Ernie Els. Just absolute stunners.

It's too bad Twitter wasn't around back then for those tournaments. It would have been great to see what hashtag an even younger Dan Brown would have come up with.
