The Field of Dreams uniforms for the Yankees and White Sox were so, so close to being perfect

Of the many sporting events the pandemic robbed us of, one of the most egregious robberies was of the "Field of Dreams" game between the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox. Fortunately, thee show will go on next Thursday in Dyersville, Iowa. Our patience will be rewarded:

Mmmm, you can practically smell the America in the pictures of this ballpark. It's a temporary 8,000 seater adjacent to the property that was used to film the classic baseball movie, which stars Kevin Costner and Ray Liotta, who plays "Shoeless" Joe Jackson, one of the members of the 1919 Chicago White Sox who were accused of throwing the World Series.

In keeping with the 1919 spirit, the 2021 White Sox and Yankees will sport 1919-style throwback jerseys, which the MLB offered fans a glimpse of a week ahead of the game. They are damn near perfect, save for the silly Nike swoosh on them:

Again, these are the hottest of the heat, but it's impossible to ignore the Nike swoosh, which, correct us if we are wrong, did not feature on the actual 1919 White Sox or Yankees jerseys. We get it, Nike's gotta slang that extra merch, but the truth is that these ain't true throwbacks. Same goes for the New Era logo on the hats, too.

Go ahead, call it old man yelling at cloud takes all you want, but that doesn't make them any less true. If they really wanted to get in the 1919 spirit, they'd do this next Thursday:

Do it COWARDS.
