An aerial look at Congaree Golf Club.

The winner of the Palmetto Championship at Congaree, Garrick Higgo, immediately turned into a PGA Tour unicorn. With a closing 68 for a 11-under 277 total, the 22-year-old from South Africa will forever hold the record for lowest score in tournament history as the first, last and only champion of the one-off event that replaced the cancelled RBC Canadian Open. It’s a distinction Collin Morikawa enjoys, having won the Workday Championship at Muirfield Village a year ago, which replaced the John Deere Classic on the 2020 calendar.

Congaree’s last man standing also goes down in history as the tournament’s all-time money leader, an amazingly impressive feat for a guy who was only playing in his second career PGA Tour event. The overall purse in South Carolina is $7.3 million with Higgo, the one and only champion, earning a prize money payout of $1.314 million.

Higgo started the final round six shots back of 54-hole leader Chesson Hadley and was two shots behind with only three holes to play. But bogeys from Hadley on the 16th, 17th and 18th holes allowed Higgo, a former college golfer at UNLV, to sneak off with the one-stroke victory with an eagle on the 12th, birdie on the 14th and pars coming in.

The PGA Tour title, which also comes with tour membership if he chooses to accept it and a Masters invite for 2022, comes after Higgo has claimed three European Tour titles since last fall. On June 1, 2019 , Higgo was 728th in the World Ranking. It's likely that he'll be inside the top 40 come Monday.

Here’s the prize money payouts for each golfer who made the cut this week at Congaree. Come back shortly after the tournament ends and we’ll update the list with individual names and payouts for each player.
