Tyrrell Hatton exploded to a final-round 77 last week at the U.S. Open to fall well down the leaderboard and end in a tie for 26th place. Just a week later he shot 64-63-64 for a 19-under-par total to dominate LIV Golf's event in Nashville at the Grove.

Until this week he had only two top-five finishes the previous eight events. Now he captured his first LIV title and took home the usual $4 million for the victory from the $20 million overall purse. Hatton, Jon Rahm, Caleb Surratt and Kieran Vincent earned the team title for Captain Rahm's Legion XIII. They will split $3 million.

Sam Horsfield was in solo second, six shots behind Hatton. Rahm, Joaquin Niemann, Lee Westwood and U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau tied for third place at 12 under par.

Speaking of DeChambeau, he had several days to celebrate his second major championship title and, by most accounts, he made the rounds. He said he left Pinehurst after midnight last Sunday and on Monday he showed up in New York City and appeared on the “Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” among other places. He also partied with San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle and was seen wandering the streets of downtown Nashville holding the U.S. Open trophy.

LIV Golf will now take two weeks off before heading to Spain July 12-14 to play at Valderrama. The following week is the British Open at Royal Troon in Scotland.
