LIV Golf, known for its theatrical experiences, did not surprise many when they announced their slogan ‘golf, but louder’ – a phrase that’s quite contradictory for those familiar with the sport.

When you think of a tournament, terms like “quiet on the Tee” or staff holding up big, bright signs that read “quiet pleasemay come to mind. So, it came as a surprise when LIV originally announced their tournaments would blast music from the range to the 18th green, using nearly 200 speakers at every event.

So far, the collaboration of golf and music that AJ Dolan envisioned as the Event Production Director at LIV has had high approval rates. This year, LIV took it a further step by partnering with AEG Presents, one of the world’s largest producers and promotors of music, who LIV hopes will bring well-known names to their tournaments.

LIV has continued to emphasize music, hosting concerts featuring popular names this season such as Macklemore, FISHER, and Dan + Shay, who performed at their most recent event in Nashville. Now LIV have decided to create a Spotify account for its fans. With playlists launched at each event, the league’s goal is to curate music that reflects the regional culture where the tournament is held that weekend.

“It’ll provide nostalgia, and serve as another touchpoint for fans at home,” Dolan said to The Tennessean when asked about his vision behind the idea.

Each tournament will feature two playlists titled ‘PreGolf,’ which runs 2 hours and is used while the players are on the range, and ‘In-Play,’ which runs 5 hours. The ‘In-Play’ playlist will be used mid-tournament and then subsequently launched on Spotify once the weekend concludes.

Playlists from Nashville’s tournament were the first release from LIV, featuring a compellingly diverse mix of EDM, house, country and folk music during the weekend, giving a taste of what LIV felt was deemed as Nashville’ music scene.

Artists included Zach Bryan and Taylor Swift, two of the most popular artists of this year, along with Zac Brown Band and Morgan Wallen. Rüfüs Du Sol was also riddled throughout both playlists, for those who may be seeking a club-like essence when attending a golf tournament. To each their own.

With 14 LIV Golf events competed in annually across the world’s premier courses, and 5 more upcoming, it will be interesting to see what music LIV comes up with in the remaining locations and whether it meets the fans’ approval.
