There's no better time to fall in love with a new, random athlete than during the Olympics. Unless you follow all these sports closely year-round, there's a good chance you've never heard of most of these guys and gals even if they are the best in the world in their sport. But one race or competition or viral moment and suddenly, you're all in.

Well, that's how we here at The Loop feel about James Guy. And it actually has nothing to do with his Olympic sport.

Guy swims for Great Britain, and apparently, he's pretty darn good. The 28-year-old is part of the 4x200m freestyle relay team that claimed gold for a second consecutive summer games. But we were drawn to him for what he did on the medal podium after winning.

With that skinny box that you've seen athletes in Paris holding (Apparently, it contains the Olympics official poster—The more you know!) in his hands, Guy used the opportunity to mimic his putting stroke. And a claw putting stroke at that, so you know this guy is a real golfer! Have a look:

You love to see it. Well, we love to see it. Nicely done, James. Looking good. Hey, there's never a bad time to work on your putting stroke.

A quick search of Guy's Twitter feed found plenty of golf, including this video of James and relay teammate Tom Dean playing golf together and competing in a one-club challenge:

So, Tom, you're way up in our book as well. We're happy to report that the (swim) team that golfs together wins gold medals together.
