Golf’s piano man returns for a Luke Donald power ballad that may make you tear up (and root for Europe)

Every little thing counts when it comes to an event like the Ryder Cup. The Americans are the slight favorites behind the No. 1 player in the world, but the Europeans have the homefield advantage and now something even more important … music on their side.

Golf’s resident piano player extraordinaire returned in epic fashion to drop the power ballad of our times for Captain Luke Donald. It’s an ode that properly replicates the emotion that the Ryder Cup elicits while simultaneously parodying “Only You” by Yazoo.

“Ryder Cup week is here, so what better time to release a little ode to the @RyderCupEurope captain, @LukeDonald?” Sam Harrop asks. “I even managed to enlist the help of some special guest vocalists for the occasion. Bring it home, Luke! 🇪🇺”

Not only do we hear Harrop’s dulcet tones, but three former Ryder Cuppers hopped on the “Only Luke” track to show their love to the European captain and the squad. Oliver Wilson, Ross Fisher and David Howell might have Broadway in their futures at this rate.

There are plenty of gems here from "Feels like only yesterday/Your frosted tips on display in that K Club victory" to “Always revered for your iron play/Driving distance much like Brian Gay” to “And that Medinah Saturday, Tiger and Stricker you slayed.”

Harrop is golf’s Weird Al (without the curly hair), and we hope that his tunes never stop. It’d be nice for the Americans to have an equivalent, but until then, this is a point in Team Europe’s direction.

"All we need to carry Europe's weight/And banish memories of Whistling Straits" is almost enough to make yours truly pull for the Europeans this go-around. Emphasis on almost.
