U.S. Open 2024: Bryson DeChambeau hands Johnson Wagner his trophy for perfectly recreating winning bunker shot in amazing live TV segment
Bryson DeChambeau's amazing bunker shot on the 72nd hole of the U.S. Open meant two things. 1.) He'd win his second major championship, and 2.) Golf fans would get to see Johnson Wagner try to recreate it later.
The former PGA Tour player's "Live From" segments have become must-see TV in recent months on Golf Channel, in part because Wagner has developed a case of the chipping yips. So when he stepped into that bunker on the 18th hole in mostly darkness it's no surprise that his first thought was being worried about blading one off the Pinehurst clubhouse.
And it almost happened! Wagner sent his first attempt way long, but then the man of the hour himself showed up holding his U.S. Open trophy. And golf fans were in for another incredible moment on that hole.
The two chatted for a bit about Bryson's victory and that wild final hole before the three-time PGA Tour winner set up for a second attempt after getting some words of encouragement from the two-time major champ. And then, something magical happened.
Wagner didn't just find the green, he rolled one up to about two feet, even closer than Bryson had a couple hours before. And after the two celebrated, DeChambeau handed over his trophy. Have a look:

"Do I get to have a cold one with you?" Wagner says pointing to the clubhouse at the end of the clip.
"Absolutely, let's go," DeChambeau replies.
Good stuff. And considering Bryson just won $4.3 MILLION, we're guessing the drinks are on him.
