DP World Tour pro robbed of hole-in-one and $200,000 Porsche after brutal lipout

It’s been a banner week for brutal lipouts in golf. First, we had Wyndham Clark’s would-be birdie putt on the 72nd hole of the Players Championship, which would have leveled him with Scottie Scheffler at 20-under and forced a playoff. Now we haveof a less consequential (but in some ways even more agonizing) example by way of DP World Tour pro Ockie Strydom, who was robbed of not only a once-in-a-lifetime ace at the Porsche Singapore Classic on Thursday, but also of a $200,000 Porsche Panamera Turbo E Hybrid.

Crime these days. Right in broad daylight. Won’t our politicians do something!?!?

Anyhoo, for a moment there Ockie must have imagined himself cruising the French Riviera, top down, wind in his hair, “Boys of Summer” blasting from the 710-watt Bose surround-sound system. But alas, golf is a fickle sport, and instead finding the bottom of the cup, his ball lipped out for a tap-in birdie.

We don’t make a habit of complaining about tap-in birdies around here but when they come at the expense of a shiny new car and an ever-elusive hole-in-one, we’re willing to make an exception.
