Dustin Johnson shows us how to make the perfect pimento-cheese sandwich

It’s an answer that will live forever. Asked at his pre-tournament press conference last year what his favorite Masters tradition is, Dustin Johnson took a second to consider his options. The green jacket? The honorary starters?

“The sandwiches,” he said, completely deadpan.

Five days later, he holed a putt to win the Masters by five, and “sandwiches” had secured a place in Augusta National lore.

So in anticipation of Johnson’s Masters title defense, we asked the World No. 1—and our current cover star—to walk us through his rendition of Augusta’s most iconic sandwich offering: the pimento cheese. When DJ showed up at our cover shoot, we had copious amounts of Wonder bread and cheese from a local grocery shop. He saw it all, laughed and said, “What’s those?” We told him the idea, and he vaguely nodded, then nailed the shoot.

As with all things he does, DJ doesn’t over-complicate things, giving you an easy weekend cooking project to get yourself in the Masters mood. It’s just around the corner, folks.
