We never thought we’d see the day. Long have we pined—gazing out rain-slicked windows, tossing and turning in the middle of the night. What, we have asked ourselves, the Gods, did we do deserve this torment? When, if ever, will it relent? Well, it appears we finally have the answer to at least one of those questions, because today—Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021 AD—is the day that EA Sports NCAA Football returned. Look upon it and weep ugly, snotty tears of glory.
Details are still scant. The teaser is an oasis in the desert—an amuse bouche before the decadent feast. But it’s happening. That’s what matters. After seven long years—so long ago that Denard Robinson, a man you hardly remember, was famous enough to grace its cover—EA Sports’ beloved NCAA Football franchise has been awakened. What will it look like? We don’t know. Will player names and likeness be included? We have no idea. Is the NCAA even involved, with the organization conspicuously absent in the newly branded “EA Sports College Football” title? A question for another day, dear friend, because today we celebrate.
