When you're a fantasy golf writer and you go on a 10-day honeymoon to St. Lucia in the middle of the golf season (note that I planned my wedding for between the British Open and the PGA Championship, at least), you run the risk of getting "Wally Pipped." Steve Hennessey jumped at the opportunity and looked like he might just knock me out for good, especially after he picked three guys who tied for fourth at the Quicken Loans National. But then he made the same mistake so many -- including myself -- have made before by hitching his star to Sergio Garcia. Whoops. So I'm back, baby! And after returning from my restful break, I'm hoping to do better than that this week for the year's final major championship. Who do I like at Whistling Straits? Here's my PGA Tour Fantasy Golf lineup:
Justin Rose: Rose had a great chance to win at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational until his putter went ice cold on Sunday. That didn't stop him from uttering a Patrick Reed-esque statement following the round. "I'm playing better than anyone in the world right now tee-to-green." Boom. That's how J-Rose rolls. I like it. So forget about the fact he's missed the cut at the last two PGAs at Whistling Straits. Yep, forget about that. I'm banking on that solid ball-striking to lead him to a second major title.
