Big-time golf fans have seen Harry Higgs' name on leader boards over the last season. And if you pay close attention to social media, you've noticed the second-year PGA Tour player continue to become more of a crowd favorite.
On Friday at the 2020 Safeway Open, Higgs punctuated an already good round with one of the best possible highlights a tour player can imagine. We can count on one hand how many rounds we can remember ending with a walk-off albatross, and that’s exactly what the 28-year-old did at Silverado North’s 18th hole to finish off a round of 10-under-par 62 that has him two shots off the lead of Sam Burns. On the 564-yard finisher, Higgs' second shot from 230 yards bounced a couple of times and rolled straight into the cup.
The fun-loving pro had a strong first year on tour, making the FedEx Cup Playoffs, finishing T-11 at the Northern Trust, and popping up on leader boards at other moments, like grabbing a co-lead after two rounds at the Barracuda Championship. Higgs admitted he just “wanted to take a nap” in his post-round press conference, making fans everywhere smile with his candidness.
Then there was the hilarious clip of Higgs impersonating George Constanza in the marine biologist scene from Seinfeld in a Korn Ferry Tour clip. He also gave us his signature drink (Tito’s … and water) in a Twitter clip last season. So like we said, you likely have gotten to know Higgs a little bit for his personality off the course.
If Higgs keeps carding ultra-low rounds like his career-best 62 he had in Napa, and putting up highlights like this one, he's going to continue to become a golf content king for quite some time.
