Here is why Padraig Harrington just became a legend among a bunch of PGA Tour Champions caddies

Padraig Harrington, what a guy. What a legend.

The three-time major champion and 2021 European Ryder Cup captain has been on quite a roll during his rookie season on the PGA Tour Champions. He just won the Ascension Charity Classic last week in St. Louis, his second victory in a three-week stretch. That win is his third this year, including the U.S. Senior Open at Saucon Valley in Pennsylvania.

And now, according to a tweet from a PGA Tour Champions caddie, Harrington is making more friends for himself.

Looper Troy Martin sent out a message on social media late Tuesday saying that Harrington got wind of a party arranged by a group of PGA Tour Champions caddies at a bar in Sioux Falls, S.D.—site of this week’s Sanford International—and decided to stop by.

What came next was classic.

“[Harrington] showed up, dominated the pool table, and picked up the entire tab for 40+ caddies. Class act. THANK YOU!,” Martin’s note said with two photos attached.

Cameras caught up with Harrington on Wednesday at Minnehaha Country Club and it turns out Harrington loves a good caddie story just like everyone else.

“They have the real story,” Harrington said. “The last night we were talking stories about guys I knew, because I’m out here 25 years but some of the caddies are 40 years so they have the stories. And they confirmed a few stories that I kind of knew about. It’s kind of priceless to get their insight on what happened.

“They know stuff that’s not in the public domain.”
