Ken Green withdraws, may not return in 2010

Ken Green withdrew from the Connecticut Open prior to the start of the second round, citing intolerable pain in his right leg, Tom Yantz of the Hartford Courant reported. Green had his right leg amputated below the knee last year and plays with a prosthesis.

"It was just too much for me to handle," he told Yantz. "I just wasn't able to get up and move around. The leg just went nuts, and it was too hard to even put the prosthetic on."

A Connecticut native, Green shot 74 in the first round of the 54-hole event at the Country Club of Fairfield, placing him nine shots behind the leader Kyle Gallo.

Green would not predict when he might return to competitive golf. "My hope is to play again [this year], but I'm not real confident it'll happen," he told Yantz, meanwhile reiterating his pledge to continue to pursue tournament golf on the Champions Tour.
