"This is a sport that loves to talk, often incessantly, about its honor and its adherence to the rules, and how players routinely call penalties on themselves for infractions only they see. How about [PGA Tour Commissioner Tim] Finchem does that to himself now?" New York Daily News columnist Mike Lupica addresses how the PGA Tour has handled the Dustin Johnson flap and calls out Finchem for the PGA Tour's lack of transparency.

"The runt of the litter, fourth of four both chronologically and in the minds of just about everyone in the game, the USPGA Championship can brag all it wants to about the statistical strength of its field, but there is no doubt that the PGA of America's annual pride and joy is the least anticipated of golf's premier events," writes John Huggan of the Scotsman.

Tony Jacklin watched the final round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and gave exceedingly high marks to Rory McIlroy's driving ability. "I've never seen anybody drive the ball better than that, ever," he said in this story in the Irish Times. "Rory showed amazing control with the driver which made the rest of it pretty straightforward."

The long-drive contest at the PGA Championship has returned, and Jack Nicklaus approves, according to this story by Adam Himmelsbach in the Louisville Courier-Journal. "Nicklaus received a money clip for winning the contest, and he has kept that clip in his pocket ever since," Himmelsbach writes.

Skydiving and cage diving with great white sharks are on the bucket list for golf's resident adrenaline junkie, Rickie Fowler, according to this column by Tim Sullivan of the Louisville Courier-Journal.
