Play suspended at the Women's Open

COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. -- With an ominous storm heading toward The Broadmoor, play was suspended at 12:45 local time. Heavy rain is expected through the afternoon, so it's wise to predict that more than 100 players will need to finish their first rounds on Friday morning.

A wet Broadmoor can be good or bad, depending on who you speak with. Since greens were running at 11.5 on the Stimpmeter Thursday morning, players who had a difficult time controlling their putts might welcome a softer surface. But wet fairways on an already-long course could make it impossible for any short-hitter to have a legitimate chance of hitting greens in regulation.

Even a dry Broadmoor played difficult this morning. Only five players are under par, there have already been five rounds in the 80s, and the average score of the 25 players who have finished is 77.2.

UPDATE: At 3:14 local time, play was suspended for the day. 131 golfers will finish their rounds on Friday.
