Remembering the greatest mustache team in sports: The '86 Mets

Ronald C. Modra/Sports Imagery

As the calendar shifts from October to November, so goes the facial hair of men across America. Each November clean-shaven dudes and bearded bros meet in the middle for #Movember, an annual, month-long celebration of the mustache designed to raise awareness for a variety of men's health issues, from prostate cancer to depression. In order to show our down-ness with that cause, we here at The Loop decided to take a look back at the greatest group of mustachioed men in sports history: The 1986 World-Champion New York Mets. From Hernandez to HoJo, no upper lip went undusted at Shea in the mid-80s, and even though there was no hashtag to justify it, the Mets mustache remains one of New York sports' most iconic trademarks.
