How a standard bearer became the most electric part of Kurt Kitayama’s wild Bay Hill win

Yes, yes, we get it. Kurt Kitayama isn’t a star, but the (now) one-time PGA Tour winner took down the behemoths to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational on Sunday. It really goes to show you that greatness can come from anywhere, including from a standard bearer.

A lot happened on the back nine at Bay Hill this past weekend, but nothing was more exhilarating than that fist pump right there. There was so much enthusiasm in it that it forced his right foot to pop up in order to control the energy. A ballast of sorts.

Kitayama’s putt on 17 ultimately won the designated event for the 30-year-old, and this footage will certainly go down in the history books for both Kitayama’s clutch putting and the standard bearer’s ability to shine when the lights are brightest.

Did he bet on Kurt, as suggested? Did they become friends while walking the course? Is he just a golf fanatic excited to witness excellence? As always we turn to @EnglishPotato10.

Send this guy to Augusta and put him with the featured group. This is what golf is all about … legends living up to the moment.
