The PGA Tour's new iPhone app had a graphic on Sunday showing that Walter Hagen (five) and Willie Anderson (four) had the most victories in the BMW Championship, which would come as a great surprise to each of them, were they still alive.
Hagen did win the Western Open five times, Anderson four times. The last of Anderson's four came in 1909, or seven years before BMW was founded. Doubtful too that when Hagen won the Western Open for the last time in 1932 that he had heard of the Bavarian Motor Works.
Ben Hogan no doubt would have been surprised to learn that he won the Northern Trust Open three times.
