From Justin Thomas to Byeong Hun An, we saw a number of the PGA Tour's finest take on Trump National Doral's many water hazards on Day 1 of the WGC-Cadillac Championship. But no one was as brave as Marc Leishman.
As we've seen through the years, the semi-submerged shot from the water can be pulled off. Take Bill Haas at the 2011 Tour Championship. But the fully-submerged shot? That's a different beast.
Leishman, though, gave it a go on No. 18 on Thursday. He took a vicious hack in the hazard that produced an all-time PGA Tour splash -- and he found a bit of success. Check it out:
Notice how Leishman has absolutely no clue where the ball is for a couple seconds after impact. Although the Aussie seemed disappointed in not getting it onto the grass, just moving it onto the bank was pretty impressive.
It didn't keep the Aussie from making a closing double bogey, but you can't argue that it was a bold play. Not that we shouldn't expect boldness from someone who wears these socks:
