Watch Tony Finau go from near-ace to disaster at the Postage Stamp

TROON, Scotland -- The famed Postage Stamp is an even more inviting target than usual on Saturday. Playing just 100 yards in the third round from an elevated tee, golfers could bunt the ball onto the tiny green with a headcovered putter. Just don't come up short. Or hit a shot with too much spin.

Tony Finau found this out the hard way. The rising star hit what appeared to be a perfect shot, landing past the pin and spinning at the hole. Unfortunately, even hitting the cup wasn't enough to keep Finau's ball on the green. Despite a near-ace, he found himself in a near-impossible situation. Check it out:

Finau was forced to play his next shot sideways, opting to barely advance it to give him a more normal bunker shot. From there, he made a nice up and down, but still, winding up with a bogey instead of a hole-in-one is a brutal turn of events. Just a guess, but he'll try to hit something with a little less spin next time. . .
